I ran into a woman today who was very sad as she walked through the metal detector. She was a flight attendant, and they are usually in one of two moods; happy-or-sad.When I asked her what was wrong, she replied that she had just found out that her boyfriend had been cheating on her for the last year-and-a-half.
I felt really bad about the situation because she was a really good looking girl who looked like she had fallen victim to bad situation. After I told her that I was sorry for what had happened, I told her that it was his loss because I liked her.
The conversation continued a bit, mind you, all this happening while I am holding the line for the rest of the patrons to enter. A we finished up our conversation, I told her that some guys suck, and that he was definitely one of them. I ended the conversation by telling her that I wasn't one of the sucky ones.
After she left, I could only think one thing to myself...
What the heck was wrong with that dude?
Why did he leave her?
Surely it takes two to tango, but at that moment in time, I was absoloutely convinced that the flight attendant was an angel, and that her ex-boyfriend was in fact a demon.
I don't know why I let her particular situation get to me so much, but I just felt so bad for her. Upon her dissapearance into the terminal, she was all I could think about for the next four hours. I would continue my work in a professional manner, but every smile I cracked after that was fake; I'm not a fake person, I just knew deep down inside that that woman was wronged.
I mean, what the heck did she do that drove him to the point of cheating? Again, surely she might have made him crazy, or maybe she was always traveling, but could you imagine dating someone for a year-and-a-half only to find out that they were being unfaithful?
It'll get better I promise...
And now, a letter - - - - - -
Dear Heart Broken,
I'm sorry beautiful...he was a bad guy; don't let it get you down. Deep down inside I know you're an amazing woman, and though our meeting was brief, in different circumstances, maybe I could have helped you see that he wasn't right for you.
Give love a chance and don't judge everyone by this one man's ignorance; life is good and love is good...don't give up on it.
My heart goes out to you for your hurt and pain...
Crack...
Split...
And then, first aid.
Can I see your boarding pass please?
